Digital Learning Information
We are very excited about using digital learning to empower our students to become leaders of their own learning. Using digital devices can help forge even more effective learning partnerships with teachers and fellow students.
We ask for your support as we continue our journey to change the pedagogy at CHS; evolving the way students are able to learn and the way teachers teach.
We want to prepare our students for a world where mobile devices are already used as a matter of course at work and increasingly in a variety of educational settings. Many young people use devices primarily for social interaction and gaming. We aspire to educate the students of CHS to enable them to recognise the educational value of using a mobile device in a safe, controlled and creative manner; for it to become a part of their regular working toolkit - not replacing old methods but enhancing them.
All students in Years 7-9 will need their own iPad with the core apps downloaded and ready for use. All students will be expected to sign the School's Acceptable Use Policy in September.
Device specifications for your child's 1-2-1 technology can be found below. Please also view the 1-2-1 Digital Learning Guides for information about how to prepare the device for the start of term and for any other frequently asked questions about the scheme.
We also take this opportunity to develop online resilience in our students, to teach them how to use the internet responsibly and safely. Detailed guidance on e-safety, including recommended apps, settings, security and privacy features for various devices, can be found in CHS Online Safety Guidance for Parents.
All students in Years 7-9 must bring their own iPad to school. This should be either an iPad or iPad Mini, capable of running the latest version of iOS and holding its charge for a full day of regular use. Further information can be found in the link below. All students will be expected to sign the School's Acceptable Use Policy in September.
Years 10 - 13
Students in Years 10-13 must bring a device of their choice to school, as outlined in the link below. We recommend a Chromebook, though other options are available. Please see the guidance for further details. All students will be expected to sign the School's Acceptable Use Policy in September.
