Down on the Farm
Food and Nutrition students gained an insight where our food comes from and life on a working farm when they spent the day at Stockley Farm Park.
The group of over 80 Year 9 students discovered the real meaning behind organic farming, biodiversity and animal welfare before visiting the milking parlour to learn how dairy herds are cared for and how milk is processed.
Located in the heart of Cheshire’s countryside, the organic farm’s 750 acres produces a mix of dairy, arable and vegetable products. Students also toured the farm’s fields, learning more about crop rotation, silage and the farmer’s year.
The end of the visit saw the group team up for an Apprentice-style challenge, competing to produce designs for their very own sausage products.
