Intrepid artists in the Senior School and Sixth Form have ventured far and wide to carry out research gain artistic inspiration.
Year 9 students visited Blackpool’s colourful promenade, taking photographs and sketching the larger-than-life town as part of their study of Pop Art.
Using advertising hoardings, shop displays and the other iconic images of the sea-front for ideas, the group developed what they had seen in their fine art, ceramics and textiles work, completing the artistic process in class.
Lower Sixth students went further afield, visiting the English Heritage property, Roche Abbey as part of their Architecture unit.
Students captured images of the gothic ruins which were used as the basis for new printmaking techniques, working with the School’s Artist in Residence to create solar plate etchings.
