Food & Lunch Arrangements

An excellent choice of nutritious and delicious food is prepared on-site by the award-winning team from Independents by Sodexo who actively educate students about making healthy food choices.

During Induction, Peer Mentors will show new students where to go, and what is available.

Lunch for the Senior School and Junior School is served in the Main Dining Hall and comprises of 3 courses; soup, main course and a pudding and is a set price of £3.75 per day (from September 2019). There is also a ‘Grab and Go’ service for those who have lunch time activities.

Attendance at any Breakfast, Morning Break and Lunch is administered using “cashless catering” and all charges are added retrospectively on each terms invoice (see below for more guidance on the use of biometric personal information).

Breakfast is available daily in the Main Dining Hall from 8.00am to 8.30am and Morning Break service runs for the Senior School from 10.50am to 11.10am. Student health and wellbeing is a key consideration of these menus, if you wish, you can request a spend limit or restriction on purchases, and we can send you itemised bills.

Sodexo have been awarded a food hygiene standard rating at their latest inspection.

If you wish to discuss any of these options please contacting the Finance Team. Infant children are provided with a snack at break time, for example fruit, vegetable batons, crackers and cheese.

Strollers, the Sixth Form Café, serves a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day.

The sample menus below will give you an idea of the range of food available in School - from traditional favourites to seasonal specialties. To promote diversity, sustainability and healthy lifestyles, from time to time we will also have “themed menus” such as international food days, “Meat-free Monday”, “Waste Awareness Week” and a “Soup Kitchen” during philanthropy week.

We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of every pupil so whilst vending machines are available in the Senior School – these are stocked with healthy snacks and drinks which are in line with government standards. As vending is occasionally needed outside of catering hours, the machines are cash-only and students will need to bring change with them if they need to use vending.

As part of the Saturday Sports experience, we offer post-game snacks and drinks - free of charge in the Dining Hall.

We understand that allergies present a serious problem for some people. It is important that we know what allergies your child has, so we can help them understand the labelling in the Dining Hall and how to make appropriate choices.

If your child has a food allergy or food intolerance please complete the Food Allergy Form as accurately as you can, describing any food allergies and other dietary-related medical conditions (for example coeliac disease).  Once we get this information, we’ll share it with our catering partner Sodexo Ltd, so they can make sure your child gets alternative meals that are safe for them.  If your child’s condition changes after you send us the form, you need to tell us as soon as possible.

If you would like to arrange a visit to the kitchens or the Dining Hall, or you would like to discuss any other aspect of your child’s eating habits, please contact the First Aid Team who will facilitate a discussion with the Catering Operations Manager and Head Chef.

Further details about our Food Allergy Management Processes and some frequently asked questions about managing allergies can be found with our Health and Medical Care for Pupils Policy on the Policies Portal.
