Historic Win at the Wicket
The CHS Under-13 cricket team have been crowned county champions, winning the prestigious Cheshire Cup for the first time in 25 years.
Star batsman and team captain, James Scott, who also plays in the School’s 1st XI, scored 111 of Cheadle Hulme’s 187 in the tense final, which saw the CHS boys defeat Sandbach School by 83 runs.
Head of Cricket, Mr Steve Burnage said: “This is a landmark victory, not only for the squad but also the School. It was a great team performance, led by Coach, Mr Kurt Foster and is indicative of the high quality of cricket being played at CHS today.
“We are all very proud of what they have achieved, particularly against such strong competition.”
Sports Scholars, Cameron Cresswell and Edward Fluck also played in the side, above their usual age category, helping take the team to a 187-4 win against Sandbach’s 104-7.
