International women's rugby star, Heather Fisher visited CHS Sports Scholars and high-performing athletes to discuss preparation, diet and the key to achieving sporting success.

Giving an insight into the life of an elite sportsperson, Heather highlighted the importance of having clear goals, giving time to both mental and physical preparation and managing ‘non-critical essentials’; punctuality, personal appearance and a positive work-life balance.
Best known for playing for both the England seven and five-a-side teams, Heather has also represented Great Britain in the bobsleigh and is a Mentor with Sky Sports’ Living For Sport initiative.  Her path to success hasn’t always been a smooth one.  Heather has had to overcome many obstacles, including on-going alopecia and a multiple fracture of her back in 2011 and her story was an inspiration to the students.
Head of Upper School, Mr Peter Tann said:  “We were delighted to welcome such an inspirational athlete to the school.  The story of Heather's remarkable personal journey and her encouraging approach helps students to adopt a positive and resilient mentality; a valuable life skill, which they can use now and in the future."
Heather finished the day by delivering a coaching session to members of the U16 rugby squad.
One student commented: “Meeting Heather gave me more confidence and helped me realise that making mistakes is OK.  It was great motivation – I really wanted to get out there and get stuck in!”
