Monster Success
Budding Year 5 author Sam has been successful in the Young Writers Monster Poetry Competition, with a poem about a knitting monster!

Inspired by his love of reading, Sam created a furry monster complete with a scorpion tail and spider’s legs! Sam’s favourite part of his poem was a little less frightening as it ended with the monster doing some knitting! When asked what he felt about being entered for the competition, Sam said: “I am really pleased and I feel that I have done well.”

He now has the fantastic opportunity to be published within a special anthology called Monster Poetry – Poems From Cheshire , special copies of which will be kept safely in the British Library.
Monster Poetry has been a great success, receiving thousands of entries from all over the UK. The winning entries are selected based upon perception, imagination, expression and creative use of language - all of which Sam has shown in his poem!
