Prestigious Scholarship for Engineer of the Future
Liam has been awarded a sought-after Arkwright Scholarship, identifying him as one of the country’s future leaders in engineering.
The renowned Scholarship Programme aims to nurture high calibre students through their A Level studies, with access to workshops, industry activities and high profile work experience opportunities, as well as a £600 award to fund extra resources and materials to enhance their learning.
Liam, who attends the School as a Bursary student, completed a rigorous selection process, including a two hour exam and an interview hosted at the University of Bath. He said: “The exam was hard and I was very nervous but I was really pleased to be one of the few to be selected.”
The good news for the Lower Sixth student followed a set of outstanding GCSE results in the summer, including a score of 100% for his Design Technology examination and coursework, for which Liam created a Ride-On Dinosaur for children.
Arkwright Scholarships are respected by leading universities and industrial companies and are supported by top engineering employers such as Rolls Royce, BAE Systems and The Royal Navy.
Other Arkwright Scholars from the School have included Shaun McSorley, who is currently on an Engineering Apprenticeship with prestigious motor manufacturer Aston Martin and Joe Wooley, who now studies Mechatronics and Robotic Systems at the University of Liverpool.
The Scholarships will be formally presented at a ceremony hosted by The Institution of Engineering and Technology later in the year.
