The Science of Sports Rehabilitation
Sixth Form Sports Scientists visited the University of Bolton to experience some of the latest cutting edge fitness and sports rehabilitation equipment.
The visit was an opportunity for students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the science behind fitness testing and the techniques used to return elite athletes to full fitness following injuries.
Students undertook a number of fitness tests using the University’s state of the art facilities, including speed, strength and flexibility assessments. They also had the chance to try an anti-gravity treadmill, which enables athletes with broken bones to exercise very early in their rehabilitation.
Head of Sport Science, Mr Andy Wrathall said: “The trip was of huge benefit to the students’ A Level studies, as it demonstrated how the theory of fitness and injuries is used in real-world settings.”
