Scott Keeps Opponents in Check
Year 10 chess wiz, Scott has become U15 Schools Champion, following a superb display of strategic gameplay in his first ever official competition.
Scott was up against the best young players from Cheshire and North Wales, all potential Grandmasters of the future, and in winning the U15 Schools Gold Cup scored more points than the overall County winner in his age group.
Scott said: “There was a lot of pressure. Once you touched a piece you had to move, which is different to how I normally play.”
Scott’s father, Ron Parker said: “I am very grateful to Scott’s teacher, Mr Nolan, whose unsolicited suggestion that he should enter the competition has reaped fantastic success.”
