CHS Cricketers Fly the Flags at Women’s World Cup

CHS students will be waving their country’s colours when they become official flag-bearers during the opening weekend of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

On Saturday 24th June, 26 girls from CHS will travel to Derby’s County Ground to fly flags as part of the national anthem presentation.

A match between England vs India will open the tournament and the girls will take part in a cricket coaching demonstration on the outfield during the lunch interval between the innings.

Running until 23rd July, the event is being covered live on Sky Sports and features the World’s top eight teams – defending champion Australia, host England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

The flag-bearing honour follows recent success for CHS’s girls’ cricket teams when, earlier this term, the U13s and U14s successfully competed in the Stockport round of the Lady Taverners competitions running across the UK.
