CHS Fundraisers Welcome Clarke House Family

It was a proud moment for students of Clarke House when family members of Old Waconian (Class of 1938) Arthur William Clarke visited the School to collect a cheque for funds they had raised in aid of house charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.

Following a year of fundraising for their chosen charity, CHS students raised over £1000 through a variety of events including lunch-time stalls and bake-off competitions.

Named after Arthur Clarke who joined the School in 1931, Clarke House presented the cheque to his family members including Arthur’s nephew, Geoff Clarke and his wife Dawn, their daughter and Alzheimers Society Operations Manager, Sue plus their granddaughter and Old Waconian Dani (Class of 2015) who was also a member of Clarke house during her time at the School.

During their visit Geoff also spoke to current students in Clarke House about Arthur’s time at CHS and his time as a Hurricane pilot during the Battle of Britain.

Sue said: “It’s wonderful to come in to School to collect the cheque for the Alzheimer’s Society. The students have done a fantastic job raising so much money and we’re very thankful for all they’ve done to help the cause.”
