Colourful Crests for Junior Art Competition

The Junior School’s House system was given a new look when the pupils created colourful crests as part of an art competition to design new coats of arms.

Inventing a new badge for their own House team, the pupils considered each part of a coat of arms, before sketching out and colouring their ideas featuring shields, mantling, their own helms and decorative wreaths.

After a thorough discussion between the School’s art teachers, the winning artists were announced as: Samaira Hossian for Heywood, Layla Jones for Langworthy, Grace Brown for Watts and Sam Woolf for Westhead.

Junior School teacher Mrs Sue Flynn then took the winners’ original heraldic designs and turned them into digital crests.

Each of the four Coats of Arms will be used throughout the School in anything to do with the House system and may even be featured on the rewards stickers for the School’s forthcoming Sports Day.
