Sheffield Ladies’ Carla Ward Visits CHS Footballers

CHS’s female footballers were given an insight into The FA Women’s Super League when they were visited by Sheffield Ladies FC first team captain Carla Ward

Talking to the girls during The FA’s Girls’ Football Week at the end of the team’s weekly training session, Carla tackled questions from players in different year groups, who quizzed the footballer on her fitness and training schedule, biggest sporting influences and how she got started in the game.

Carla said: “My brother was probably one of my biggest inspirations. He kept telling me I wouldn’t be able to do anything with my football and I was determined to prove him wrong.”

Giving advice to the girls on the key to success, the Sheffield midfielder commented: “There are different ways to get into the game and its different now to when I got started, as I was quite fortunate playing for a big club, but essentially it’s all about working hard and playing whenever you can.”

Talking about her visit to CHS, Carla said: “It’s good to see so many girls involved, I was surprised when I arrived to see so many taking part, it’s great to see.”
