What is a Waconian?
The term ‘Waconian’ is a remnant of Cheadle Hulme School's original name, The Manchester Warehousemen and Clerks' Orphan Schools. CHS students and staff are Waconians by definition.
The educational experience offered by CHS instils students with a set of core values and strengths which chime with the values of the original founders of the School in 1855. Keeping these values at their heart, the academic curriculum, pastoral care system and co-curricular programme all work together to harness every student's potential. Our students learn about the importance of these core values through our pastoral and well-being curriculum and are encouraged to consider their contribution to life at CHS.
CHS aims to create life-long learners who do the best they can for themselves and others, communicate clearly, care about the world around them and make deliberate, mindful life choices. To learn more about our core values, please watch our short film.
When they leave CHS, our students carry the values forward as Old Waconians and contribute to society on a local, national and global scale.
