Making a difference

SOCIAL RESPONSIBIILITY

We believe that education should do more than prepare pupils for exams,  it should shape the kind of people they become.

At CHS, our founding ethos continues to guide us: to cultivate open-mindedness, fairness, and a deep sense of responsibility to others. We regularly remind pupils that they are fortunate to be part of this community and with that privilege comes a duty to contribute to the lives of others.

Partnering for good

SOCIAL IMPACT

We encourage pupils to build meaningful connections with people and causes beyond our school gates. We partner with local primary schools, charities, and organisations whose values align with our own, giving pupils the opportunity to volunteer, learn from others and make a tangible impact.

Through the House system, pupils raise funds for chosen charities and mark national and international awareness days, helping to  develop their sense of responsibility and broadening their understanding of the issues facing communities both locally and globally.

CHS in The Gambia

WHOLE SCHOOL CHARITY

Our partnership with The Gambia began in 2010 when one of our teachers returned from a volunteering trip inspired to build a lasting connection between CHS and a school community overseas. Since then, pupils have helped raise vital funds and taken part in life-changing visits to our partner school. For those who go, it’s a powerful experience that brings perspective, purpose and a deeper understanding of what it means to make a difference.

Sustainable CHS

ECO CHS

Pupils play a vital role in shaping our Green Plan by raising awareness, encouraging small everyday changes and helping to embed sustainable practices across school life.

Our carbon reduction plan outlines the steps we are taking to reduce emissions, improve recycling, and educate our community, all in support of our goal to become Carbon NetZero by 2030.
