Congratulations to Year 11 Waconians as they celebrate an outstanding set of GCSE results, the culmination of five years of hard work and determination.
Among the stand-out performers are Nikhil, Joshua, Oliver, Lydia and Charlotte who each achieved an incredible ten grade 9s, alongside Evie, Samuel, Rhea, Sophie, Rohit and Beatrice who secured nine grade 9s and one grade 8. A further 39 pupils achieved grades 9 – 7 in every subject.
Overall, 46% of all grades were awarded at 9 – 8, with 65% at grades 9 – 7.
Academic Deputy, Nick Axon “This is an excellent set of results, not least given that this year group began their senior school education during the pandemic. The number of pupils achieving the very highest grades has increased again this year and there are some outstanding results from the sciences to the creative arts, demonstrating the wide ranging talents and interests of our pupils. These results are testament to the hard work and commitment of our pupils, of which we are all enormously proud”.
In Art, 61% of pupils secured a grade 8 or 9, in Drama 56% at grade 9 or 8 and in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, over 90 % of grades are at a 7 or above.
But beyond the grades, today is about the personal stories of achievements and we celebrate those students who discovered new interests, those who overcame setbacks and who juggled revision with hours of rehearsals, tournaments and performances.
Head, Lee Richardson “We are incredibly proud of every single student collecting results today. As well as the strong academic success, we celebrate the moments of joy for those whose Senior School journey has not always been straightforward, as well as those who were busy combining academic studies with co-curricular commitments. It’s this mix of achievement and commitment that makes this year group so special and I look forward to seeing them continue their journey in the Sixth Form”.
Alongside the headline GCSE results, it’s the individual journeys that make results day so special. Read more here.
