Results Day inevitably brings plenty of attention to grades. While today is an opportunity to celebrate some outstanding academic achievements, the story of the ‘Class of 2026’ is about much more than this.
During their time at CHS, our students have performed on stage and on the sports field, led clubs and societies, volunteered in their communities, launched ideas, supported younger pupils and pursued interests that have helped shape what they want to do next. Now, they are heading in many different directions.
What they have in common is that each leaves CHS with their own story and their own definition of success. Here we meet some of the ‘Class of 2026’ and discover what comes next.
Flossie joined CHS at the start of Sixth Form and wasted no time in getting fully involved in life at the school. Two years later, she leaves with some brilliant memories, new friendships and a place at the University of Birmingham, where she will study Physiotherapy.
Head Pupil Retheic balanced his academic studies with a huge contribution to school life, while also finding time to support other students interested in following a similar path. He played an instrumental role in organising ‘MedSoc’ events, hosted a ‘Let’s Chat: Careers in Medicine‘ event for younger students, and co-hosted a podcast sharing advice about applying to medical school. He now leaves CHS to begin the next stage of his own journey into Medicine.
Emma’s next chapter will take her across the Atlantic, where she will combine further study with the opportunity to play football in America – an exciting next step for one of our new Old Wacs.
For talented musician Oscar, Results Day felt “surreal” after two years of hard work and slightly strange to suddenly have no deadline to work towards! A familiar face in music at CHS, his next step will see him head to a music conservatoire to pursue his passion for jazz drums.
Four A*s and a place at the University of Oxford to study English are an incredible end to a very busy two years for Charlotte. As one of our Head Pupils, Charlotte threw herself into school life while also making her mark as a talented singer and musician. She took a leading role as ‘Fiona’ in our recent production of Shrek and gave a standout performance at Graduation. Her advice to younger students is simple: don’t doubt yourself – believe in what you can do.
For Fred and Will, the next adventure begins before university. Both have chosen to take a gap year, with plans to travel and gain new experiences before beginning their university studies in 12 months’ time, a reminder that there is no single route beyond Sixth Form.
Jessie, recipient of this year’s Head’s Special Prize, who has been a committed netball player throughout her time at CHS, captaining the team through a hugely successful period on court. She will now head to Nottingham Trent University to study Sport Science and Management.
For Eva and Summer, a friendship forged at CHS will continue in London, with both heading to London College of Fashion to study Fashion Marketing.
