FAQs
What is your closing date for applications?
All applications must be submitted by 12 noon on Thursday 5th March.
The closing date for Junior School applications is Thursday 12th March.
What is your response date for applications?
In line with other schools within the North West consortium, we are asking families to confirm their decision by 23 March 2026 for entry in September. This agreed timeline is intended to give families sufficient time to visit, reflect and consider their options carefully.
We would be grateful if families could respond as early as possible to help us plan effectively and manage capacity.
The exception applies to pupils currently in Year 10 and Year 12, where an earlier transition may be advisable in order to minimise disruption during examination courses. We will discuss individual timelines directly with those families where relevant.
When can we expect to hear about offers?
We will aim to contact families about offers on Friday 13th March.
Junior School families will receive offers on Friday 20th March, following the assessment date on Wednesday 18th March.
What will the interview involve?
The interview is an opportunity for us to get to know your daughter, her strengths, interests and what she enjoys about school.
For those applying to join Year 9 or Year 10, we will also discuss and review subject options.
The interview is also a chance for you and your daughter to ask any questions about the school, subjects or life at CHS.
What transition arrangements will be put in place?
For students joining Years 10 and 12 after Easter, we will arrange Transition visits before Easter holidays.
Transition events for all other year groups will take place in the Summer term. Our programme will take place in May / June and include a parent information evening.
Year 8 – 10 students will be required to sit a maths test and will be assigned a buddy to support their transition.
Junior School pupils will be invited to spend some time in school to meet with their class teacher.
How will CHS support my daughter if she is joining mid-year and leaving established friendship groups?
CHS is experienced in welcoming pupils at different points in the academic year. Each new joiner is placed within a Form group and supported by a Form Tutor and Head of Year, who take time to understand her individual circumstances and help her settle thoughtfully and at a pace that feels comfortable.
Where appropriate, we consider friendship placements carefully, introduce peer support, and ensure regular pastoral check-ins during the early weeks. Our aim is to help pupils feel secure and confident in their new environment, recognising that adjustment is a process and that every child’s experience will be slightly different.
Which examination boards does CHS follow and how would this affect my daughter's current courses?
Details of our subject options and exam boards can be found on our Options Sites.
We are working closely with AESG and will review each case individually to guide families through any subject-specific differences.
What practical arrangements should we consider if our daughter joins CHS?
If your daughter joins CHS, our Admissions and Pastoral Team will guide you through all practical arrangements in a clear and structured way.
This includes fees, uniform, transport options, and information about catering and daily routines.
