There was a real excitement in the air as our U15 Girls’ Football team headed down to the Hertfordshire FA grounds last week. The girls arrived in high spirits and were eager to get the game underway.
Any pre-match nerves didn’t last long! Within the very first minute, Alisha played a brilliant ball through to Millie, who managed to curve it past the keeper.
That early 1-0 lead gave the girls all the confidence they needed. They settled into a great rhythm, playing some fantastic football to go into the break 4-0 up, thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Millie and a goal from Lori.
The second half was much of the same, with CHS staying firmly on top. Millie stayed on fire, bagging two more quick goals to bring her total for the day to an amazing five.
Dunottar worked hard and managed to pull one back midway through the half. Lori found the back of the net again for her second of the game, followed by a great goal from Oli, wrapping up the game with an 8-1 win.
Speaking after the trophy presentation, Mr Wood, Head of Football, said, “The girls were great today, they played on the front foot and executed the game plan perfectly. There were a few nerves before the game, which you would expect, but as soon as the whistle blew, they put them to one side and played some really good football. They fully deserved the win. We are all very proud of them and what they have achieved.”
Lifting a national trophy is such a brilliant achievement and a huge credit to the hard work the girls have put in all season. Huge congratulations to our U15 squad – National Champions!
