Two student teams competed in the National Finals of STEM Racing, marking another milestone in the School’s growing reputation for this dynamic co-curricular programme.
Competing as CHSonic and CHS Ignition, the teams progressed to the national stage following months of work designing, manufacturing and testing their miniature racing cars, alongside developing branding, sponsorship and project management strategies that closely mirror real-world industry practice.
Formerly known as F1 in Schools, the competition is internationally recognised and supported by Formula One and the wider motorsport and engineering industries. Reaching the National Finals places CHS among the top 60 teams out of more than 600 across the UK.
Mr Tulloch, who leads the programme, said: “Both teams have worked together so brilliantly to solve problems, manage deadlines and engage with their sponsors. Reaching the national finals is a significant achievement and reflects their commitment, technical ability and professionalism and will have helped htem develop skills that will stay with them long beyond the competition.”
Over the past eight years, CHS has had nine teams compete at the National Finals, with one progressing to the World Finals. The programme continues to offer students a rare opportunity to experience the full lifecycle of a product, from concept through to delivery on a national stage.
