Junior Charity Day Helps Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

CHS’s Junior School Councillors showed the School’s values of contribution and compassion when they welcomed Philippa Boyd from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) to present her with a cheque for funds they had raised during their ‘dodgeball’ themed Charity Fun Day.

Invited to speak with the pupils about her work and all that goes on in the hospital, the pupils found out how their donation would be spent to help young patients and presented her with a cheque for £1530.

The same amount, also raised during the Charity Fun Day, will be donated to UNICEF and Cancer Research UK – charities selected by members of the Junior School Council.

The hospital is particularly close to the heart of a number of Infants and Juniors, some of who have received support from RMCH for their own health issues including heart surgery and burns.

Junior School Deputy Head, Mr Malcolm Johnson said: “We are all very proud of the pupils’ hard work to put the charity day together as well as the generosity of them and their families on the day. Raising more than £4000 in one day for good causes is no mean feat.”
