Sixth Form Admissions

The Sixth Form at CHS is a new beginning with greater independence and personal responsibility, a more flexible timetable and a growing focus on life beyond CHS.

The Sixth Form marks an exciting chapter in our students’ lives with increased choices, independence, and responsibilities. It’s a time of growth, exploration, and valuable experiences.

Every Sixth Former is a member of a Hall, fostering a strong sense of community and a supportive environment that extends beyond the Sixth Form and into the wider school through leadership opportunities.

We are looking for individuals who are not just academically strong but also bring interesting perspectives and ambition. At CHS, we believe in seizing every opportunity, and we want students who are enthusiastic about making the most of what our school has to offer.

To find out more about joining us at Sixth Form, please contact admissions@chschool.co.uk or call 0161 488 3345.

Current CHS pupils are not required to complete an application form or pay a registration fee to join the Sixth Form.

Entry Information

Our experience in recent years suggests that in order to be comfortable with the academic pace of A Level study at CHS students require an attainment level equivalent to 56 points (from 9 subjects) in their GCSE / iGCSE exams. Subjects graded 9-1 are allocated points equal to the number grade awarded. We use this as a guide to suitability, not an immovable requirement.

In addition to points, we look for a student’s proven commitment to academic study and Sixth Form subject choices.

We understand initial subject choices are provisional and we are happy to offer advice regarding subject combinations. All offers of places to join the Sixth Form will be conditional on final GCSE results in the August preceding entry and a positive School report.
