CHS’s wind musicians blew the competition away at this year’s Alderley Edge Music Festival and picked up prizes for their rousing performances.

In the Open Class category of the Wind/Brass Section, the Senior Brass Ensemble achieved a ‘Distinction’ with their two pieces.

They played ‘Sonata Pian‘e Forte’ and ‘Little Brown Jug’.

Pianist, Kirsty Dickson, who performed ‘Sonata in F minor, Op.2, No. 1, lst movt’ by Beethoven won the piano solo Grade 8 class and the Festival Award.

Taking first prize in the vocal solo Year 8 class, singer, Lily Odell was entered in two categories and took the Laurel Brown Trophy after her rendition of ‘How Far I’ll Go’ by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Congratulations to all of CHS’s musicians who took part in the annual competition.
