Super shorts at Waconian film school

Scorsese, Lynch, Anderson… CHS will soon be able to add a whole new list of names to some of cinema’s greatest directors after a group of Waconians produced some (frighteningly!) good 2-minute shorts during CHS’s One-Day Film School.

Run as part of the School’s Enrichment Week, the activity saw pupils from Year 7 to Year 10 form production teams and get creative by working on their own indie concepts… each one taking ‘scary’ in different directions.

After planning and shooting their films, with tutorial sessions covering everything from storyboarding to shooting tips, the day culminated in a screening of each creation:

Lost Property: Jack Dey, Sam Greenhalgh, Frank Hayes, Ted Hayes, Arthur Millington

The Eyes: Oscar Boanas, Sam Gregory, Adam Wainwright, Lucia Wijayasiri

Guardian: Teo Buck, Oliver Burgess, Reuben Farrell, Dylan Shanahan, Liam Walker

What If I Went Missing: Charlotte Holmes, Umaiza Tasaddak, Sophia Thomson

Project co-ordinator and CHS Marketing Manager, Miss Lisa Durrant said: “The filmmakers all worked incredibly hard; in only 6 hours they conceptualised, scripted, storyboarded, filmed, edited (adding some of their own original soundtracks / sfx) and completed some excellent 2-minute shorts – particularly with the restriction of a single site location and only a few people around to be extras. I was especially impressed with their creativity and acting skills, and how well they supported their fellow production teams throughout the process.”
