A Night with the Lions: CHS 1 in 6 Rugby Evening
Manchester Rugby Club was recently transformed into CHS’s own Lions HQ for a standout night of sport, stories and fundraising.
Attendees enjoyed a clubhouse-style supper and a welcome drink before being treated to an hour of captivating Q&A and stories from former international rugby players Nathan Hines and Christian Day.
Nathan Hines, selected for the 2009 Lions Tour, shared insights into the pride and experience of playing at the highest level, while Christian Day expertly compered the evening with energy and humour, fostering lively discussion among the parents present.
Mr Giles Heagerty, Head of CHS Rugby joined Christian on stage to discuss the future of rugby at CHS and how parents can help shape it through their support of the 1 in 6 bursary campaign. The senior squad later joined Nathan and Christian on stage for a powerful show of support and solidarity, captured in a great photo from the night.
The evening also featured a poignant highlight when Old Waconian John Wharton, Class of 1969, shared personal memories of playing rugby at the school, underscoring the deep-rooted legacy of the sport at CHS.
