Altruistic John Helps Girls In Need At Local Foodbank

It was a case of he for she when altruistic student John raised awareness and helped to collect 12 bags of sanitary products for donation to his local foodbank.

Receiving donations from across the whole School, Year 7 student John took the donations to the Cheadle Hulme foodbank, Chelwood with his younger sister, Jocelyn who helped with the collection in the Junior School.

John chose to collect the items after the foodbank put out an urgent appeal for donations of sanitary wear which could be distributed to young girls whose families are facing financial hardship.

After talking to his mum and hearing that girls in some parts of the region miss up to 15% of school each year and are virtually housebound due to a lack of sanitary provision, John wanted to get involved too.

John decided to help his mum and sister in collecting items by raising awareness with his form and posting the charity’s appeal on Instagram telling everyone ‘how rubbish it was that girls his age were in this position just because they are poor’.

The post was liked by a number of his friends and John is continuing to collect and pass on donations from the School.
