Magnifique French at CHS

This half term has been one of French #CHSuccess!

Five Sixth Form Waconains, Hannah, Sam, Izzy, Camilla and Maya, have recently learned of their success in the rigorous DELF B2 examination.

Administered by the French Ministry of Education, the DELF B2 certification is esteemed for meeting French language entrance requirements at universities and is equivalent to an A Level.

According to the Delf Dalf website, a B2 candidate has a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting their own mistakes. A B2 certification lasts forever.

This certification emphasises the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the group, who collectively invested over 180 additional learning hours into the exam.

This is the first year CHS has offered this certification.

CHS Head of French, Mr Oliver Abbott commented: “The DELF B2 certificate is life changing. This certification emphasises the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the group, who collectively invested over 180 additional learning hours into the exam!”

But the French-themed success doesn’t end there!

During the recent half-term break, a delegation of 15 Waconians participated in an International Model United Nations debate at Alleyn’s School.

Not only did the team win top overall award of best delegation, a trio of pupils – Luna, Sam and Izzy –  conducted all their debates entirely in French throughout the weekend!

Sam’s exceptional performance earned him the title of best delegate, with Izzy securing second place, and Luna being commended.

Head of MUN at CHS, Mrs Judi Shand said: “We are more than proud of them – they were perfect examples of the best of CHS.”
