MUNCH20 Moves Online

Since 2001, CHS has been proud to host its annual weekend-long Model United Nations conference ‘MUNCH’, and this year, for the very first time in its 20 year history, it was held as a virtual event.

Featuring delegates from twenty schools, debating issues affecting Jerusalem, the climate crisis, the right to protest, marine conservation, discrimination and the pandemic’s effect on education, the move online was a huge success.

The main organizers for the online MUNCH 20 were Sixth Form students and Secretary Generals Alex and Lizzy, ably assisted by Chairs, Amy and Matthew.

Also Chairing the debates were Senior School pupils Isabelle, Isobel, Sam, Theo, Josh, Zach, Miliani, Alyssa, Andrew, Rosie, Hugo and Atharva.

Year 8 delegates included Amy, Emmie, Amelia, Luna, Jasmine, and Charlotte.

CHS Munch Co-Ordinator, Mrs Judith Shand was thrilled with the success of the event. She said: “Everyone did a fantastic job, adapting to the new challenge of moving the event online was no easy task and once again the quality of the pupils’ debates from all schools involved was of such a high standard…  well-researched and delivered incredibly well. CHS’s Year 8s were particularly fabulous; this is the first year they have ever taken part as delegates, representing the School and themselves brilliantly. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next year!”

MUNCH 20 Secretary General Lizzy, and CHS delegate Sam have shared a few words on their experiences over on the School blog.
