Old Wac gives Upper Sixth talk on Hope 4 the World Charity.

Cathy Beavis, Class of 1972, gave a talk to the Upper Sixth on the charity work she does with Hope 4 the World in Burma (Myanmar).

Hope 4 the World was founded by Old Waconian Steff Nash, Class of 1970, who won this year’s Distinguished Old Waconian Award

Cathy told the students about the charity work she does that helps to give the small towns and villages education not only for children but also for teachers to be able to teach the children at a higher standard.

She also spoke about other work the charity does such as medical help and training in order to help  properly treat sick and injured, building of schools so children have somewhere to learn and supporting ethnic minorities.

The students were shocked to see how poor the standards of living were in the places Cathy has visited and how important the work that the charity does is for them.

Our annual Charity Hike raises money for charities like Hope 4 the World. We can’t wait to take part on Sunday 14th October and raise money so work like this can carry on.
