Business A Level Exam Information

 

Course Structure

The course examines what business is, and then looks at decision-making for business performance in this context, focusing on four key areas of marketing, financial management, operations management and human resources. There is an equal focus on strategic position, direction, methods and change. The course thrive upon real world application and students will benefit from regular immersion in real-life examples.

The course covers a very wide range of business experience and theory, ranging from corporate social responsibility to technology and strategic decision-making and stakeholder management. It is a course that is both challenging and accessible and will prepare students well for any business-related degrees at a wide range of universities.

The course is examined 100% by terminal examination, with the following structure (each paper covering the whole syllabus).

Paper 1 (33.3%)

2 hour written exam

Three compulsory sections:

  • Section A has 15 multiple choice questions (MCQs) worth 15 marks.
  • Section B has short answer questions worth 35 marks.
  • Sections C and D have two essay questions (choice of one from two and one from two) worth 25 marks each.

Paper 2 (33.3%)

2 hour written exam

Three data response compulsory questions worth approximately 33 marks each and made up of three or four part questions

Paper 3 (33%)

2 hour written exam

One compulsory case study followed by approximately six questions

A grade 6 in Maths GCSE is desirable.
