Psychology A Level Exam Information

Course Content

The course covers the major topics: Social Influence, Memory, Attachment, Psychopathology, Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology, Research  Methods, Issues and Debates, Gender, Schizophrenia and Forensic Psychology.

Course Structure

The A Level is examined using three papers, each of 2 hours duration. It includes multiple choice, short answer and extended writing.

Reading and Resources

The course textbooks which students will be provided with are as follows:

  • AQA Psychology for A Level Year 1 and AS – Flanagan, Jarvis and Liddle.
  • AQA Psychology for A Level Year 2 – Flanagan, Berry, Jarvis and Liddle.

Students will also benefit from reading the Psychology Review journal which is available in the library.

Entry Requirements

The department sets no formal entry requirements, other than those for entry in to the Sixth Form and no prior knowledge of the subject is required.
