“Plus 1” Options in Sixth Form

Our Sixth Form Curriculum enables all students to develop their skills, knowledge and experience in preparation for life after school.

‘Plus 1’ offers an opportunity for academic stretch and breadth which will be hugely beneficial to students – for UCAS, an apprenticeship or applying for jobs after Year 13.

Plus 1 Options

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) will develop and extend from one or more of the student’s study areas and/or from an area of personal interest or activity outside their main programme of study. It will be based on a topic chosen by the student and agreed as appropriate by the school.

Core Maths is a Level 3 (equivalent of AS) qualification designed to equip students with the mathematical skills needed for work, study and life.

Core Maths is different from A Level Maths in that the focus is on problem solving in real life contexts, particularly in a financial or statistical context.

The Gold Arts Award offered by Trinity College London is a QCF Level 3 qualification which is recognised on the UCAS Tariff (16 points on new scale).
It is a portfolio based qualification where students submit evidence for moderation of achieving the necessary assessment criteria and is aimed at those choosing at least one Arts A Level (Art, Drama & Theatre, Music, English Literature).
The Arts Award highlights the possibilities of further study and careers in the Creative Arts Industries as well as focusing on highly desirable independent study and leadership skills.

The Elite Sport Programme supports aspiring athletes in balancing the demands of sporting excellence and academic requirements, whilst allowing them to develop an understanding of key contributing factors in elite sport.

Sixth Form students live, train and learn like a professional athlete whilst following their own bespoke programme which is made up of two key elements: Lifestyle and Training.
