Sport

“Pupils’ success in sport has been promoted by an increased focus on improving the quality of PE by the leadership of the School and by the provision of outstanding facilities by the governing body.” ISI Inspection, April 2017

Sport at CHS embodies our core values of integrity, endeavour, resilience, compassion and contribution.

Participation in physical activity helps our pupils grow, learn, and enjoy themselves whilst developing and applying their personal, physical, and intellectual skills.

Through a PE curriculum which develops physical skill and an appreciation of health-related exercise, a Games programme which introduces pupils to a range of team-based and individual sports and a Co-Curricular programme enabling every pupil to further explore and develop their sporting interests, we seek to provide a modern, varied and enjoyable experience of sport and physical exercise.

Success in sport, both personal and team, helps strengthen relationships, fosters loyalty, and gives our community further reason to be proud to be part of CHS.

We have excellent sporting facilities and all our pupils are encouraged to try a range of sports and fitness activities, whatever their level of ability.

A large number of teams are offered which provide many opportunities for pupils to represent the School in a wide range of sports at different levels. We compete with other schools, both regionally and further afield.

Our team of dedicated specialist coaches help develop the skills of our pupils of all ages and many members of teaching staff manage teams and deliver coaching sessions themselves, helping to develop strong relationships between pupils and teachers.
